A LAND DEFINED BY LOCATION

Tsisnami "Sissy" Sakvarlishvili is a Georgian-American journalist, writer, and activist whose work amplifies the voices of marginalized communities and champions freedom and democracy. Born in Tbilisi during the Soviet era, she endured political upheaval and Russia’s 2008 invasion of Georgia, which displaced her family, before pursuing her passion for education and storytelling. After earning a bachelor’s degree in history from Tbilisi State University and a master’s degree in political science from the University of Florence, she moved to the United States in 2013 to follow her dream of becoming a journalist.

Sissy has reported on politics, culture, and the Georgian diaspora in New York, interviewing figures such as former Georgian president Mikheil Saakashvili and NBA star Zaza Pachulia. She is the author of Diary of a Red-Haired Girl, a 2023 bestseller in Georgia, and the recipient of the Leader Woman of Georgia award. Currently working on her first English-language book, Sissy aspires to continue her studies at Columbia Journalism School and build a career in international journalism and literature.
